Think back to all the times you’ve signed up for things online. Did you once signup to Google Mail (Gmail)? Maybe it was Dropbox or Facebook?
Each one of these signups is a result of an effective call-to-action or in short a CTA.
In digital marketing, a call to action (CTA) is a very clear instruction that has been designed to provoke an immediate response, usually using a verb such as “call now”, “Buy Now” or “visit us today”.
The action your users take might be anything from, signing up to a newsletter, downloading a song, getting a coupon for a product you sell, etc.
Where do you put your CTA?
A CTA can be placed anywhere in your marketing — on your website, in an ebook, in an email, or even at the end of a blog post.
You should consider a few CTAs. There is no limit to the amount of CTA on a page. Our opinion is that the more CTAs you have, the better your chances that the user has to click. – As a word of warning on this note, your CTAs should not compete but complement each other. Don’t confuse the user with a lot of options.
Make your Call-To-Actions Standout! Make sure to put your CTAs in strategic positions so they receive maximum attention.
Include a “why” (#ProTip)
It is good to tell your users what to do next, however, don’t forget to tell them WHY they should. By not letting your clients know the reason as to the CTA you run the risk of them to losing interest. If you are able to explain WHY your product or service is a good fit before the CTA then you’re halfway there. You need to create a desire for them to be a part of something special.
Keep it Short & Sweet
Your CTA is an advertisement, which tells your users what they should do. The more information in as few words as possible, the better. That sounds pretty easy, doesn’t it? Just make sure that that the instruction is clear and your user knows exactly what they have to do.
